Georgina Colwell

Trained at London's Guildhall School of Music, Colwell (Albany Road, Hersham, Surrey) is a soprano specializing in English song and Leider. Her compact disk, This Scepter'd Isle (1993), includes Dr Cecil Armstrong Gibbs's setting of Ephelia's "To One Who Asked Me Why I Lov'd J.G" (Female Poems...by Ephelia, 1679), published by Boosey & Hawkes, London, in 1937. A sound clip from this setting concludes my essay. See my note, co-written with Colwell, "Ephelia Setting on CD," Restoration (Fall, 1997).
